Kito de Pavant

Born on 23 February 1961 in St-Pardoux-la-Rivière (Dordogne, France). 5 children. Lives in Montferrier-sur-Lez (Hérault – South of France).

His little sister couldn’t pronounce Christophe, so he has remained Kito all his life, and what a life! When his family dropped anchor at Port Camargue, Kito cast off and through the years has sailed all over the Bay of Aigues Mortes, the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, etc. Between two deliveries to the West Indies, two crossings of the Indian Ocean, the China Sea and the Red Sea, the sailor lives in “L’Espiguinguette”, his dream headquarters on a Camargue beach where he becomes the king of “Pain-bagnat” (type of bread) and an expert in pedalos.

Competitive as a teenager, it was when he reached his forties that finally listened to his heartfelt desire to become an offshore racer. In the year 2000, he began his career on the Figaro circuit. Fast, inspired and tough, three years later the Mediterranean skipper won the legendary Solitaire du Figaro single-handed race. In 2005, he met with Bel Group, with which he shares joint ambitions. Victories and podiums in the Figaro followed one after the other. He also fell in love with the Group’s workers.  At the end of 2006, the IMOCA project was born with the construction of a new 60 footer (VPLP plan). From single-handed sailor, Kito became the leader of a project that touched and thrilled both adults and children.
